AMPS Update

To Members of our AMPS Team,

Arriving home late one night, I realized that I had forgotten to leave the light on over the sink. In the darkness, I searched for the switch, but nothing happened when I flipped it “on.” As I groped in the darkness for a flashlight, I thought of how I take for granted those little things that are so necessary in our daily routine. Praise the Lord, as I found probably the only flashlight in the house with good batteries. My mind began to sort through all the possibilities…a problem at the co-op substation, a blown transformer, an accident that took out a power pole, a tripped circuit breaker, a bad switch or light socket. In short, a huge complex of inter-connected, working parts that insure that the power from the generating station gets to our home to light what turned out to be simply a burnt-out bulb.

As I think back on that experience, I am reminded of how we each have an important part in using God’s power to share the light of the Gospel with a world groping in the darkness. In Matt 5:16, we are exhorted to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, who is in heaven.” I pray that I will never take for granted the support that you provide as members of our AMPS Team, Awana Missionary Project Sponsors. We thank you for the critical role that you each have in our ministry.  In order to provide light for our home, the amps of electric current must travel through the distribution lines, substations, transformers, household electric lines, switches and outlets to that electric light bulb. Similarly, it’s the AMPS that make our ministry possible.

AMPS? We appreciate all who have helped with the Activity Support at the Awana Games, Awana Orientation Training, and other events, where you provided the extra man (woman) power that was necessary. We would like to say thanks to all who have provided Monetary Support. These funds make it possible for us to leave our “jobs,” in order to do the “real” job to which God has called us… to reach boys and girls (and their families) with the Gospel.  We Praise The Lord that we are currently at 43 percent of our targeted level of support set by Awana. We also wish to thank all who have providedPrayer Support, as we know that it’s only through His power that we are able to see lives changed.

Activities support…..Monetary support…..Prayer support…these investments allow us to continue to share the light of the Gospel through Awana clubs in local churches throughout South Carolina and around the world. Through your support, we have witnessed God working in our lives. We continue to claim the promise of I Thes 5:24… “Faithful is He that calleth you, who also will do it.”

In the past three months, we have had the opportunity to share the Gospel at three Awana Games Events, four new club start ups, and two club support activities. We Praise The Lord, as we have seen over 20 children and two adults respond to the Gospel invitation. In addition, we have had the privilege of presenting the Awana ministry to six churches that plan on starting an Awana Club in the Fall.

We plan to provide quarterly updates through our AMPS Newsletter. Please let us know if you would prefer to receive these updates by e-mail and if you know of someone who would like to be added to our mailing list. Please keep praying and thanks again for your investment…To God Be The Glory!

In His Service, Bill & Dee
